BOPPERS PARENT INFO
If your child is a Bopper in this show, this info is just for you :) The key differences for the Boppers are unlike the other age groups. You will stay with your dancer during their entire recital experience. You will start in the conference room just like all of the other dancers, but you will also accompany them backstage just as you will at the rehearsal. After your time on stage, you are welcome to take them back into the audience to watch the rest of the show! You will be dancing on stage with your tiny dancer! You may wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
CARING FOR YOUR COSTUME
It is important to know how to care for your costume leading up to the show! Here are a few tips!
1. Try on your costume when you receive it! Make sure there are no sizing issues or defects.
You can also email Miss Liz at [email protected] if you have a defect issue.
2. Do NOT take the tights out of the packaging until the weekend of the show! You don't want to wear them to class or risk tearing them before the recital.
3. If your costume has a tutu, fluff the tutu the week before the show. Pull apart layers of tulle or mesh for full fluffiness effect!
4. Tulle and mesh will likely be wrinkled from being in their storage bag. DO NOT IRON THEM AS THEY WILL MELT!!! Instead, hang it in the bathroom with the door closed while you shower and then smooth out the fabric by tugging on it slightly. You can also LIGHTLY steam if you wish with a hand held steamer.
5. Keep the costume in the garment bag provided to you as well as all needed hair accessories and tights so that nothing is lost when you need it.
FITTING DATES
Although we always do our best to ensure that every child's costume is ordered for the size that they measure to be, there is always a chance that a particular style can run big or small. Not every costume is going to fit like a glove and a safety pin may be needed here or there or a strap might need to be shortened/made longer. These types of small fixes you will do yourself. However, if you feel there is a MAJOR difference in the way that your child's costume fits, and the way it should fit, please come to one of our fitting sessions and we will look at it and/or have it altered or re-ordered for you if we determine there is an issue. Before coming in please make sure to hold the costume at the top and pull it all the way up. Remember these fit tighter than their class wear and should have zero growing room.
If you feel your costume doesn't fit you MUST come to a fitting session. Your teacher will not be able to help you with costume fit issues.
WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU WITH SIZE ISSUES IF YOU DO NOT COME TO A SCHEDULED FITTING SESSION**
Fitting DATE: Saturday May 18th at 1:00pm
BACKSTAGE ACTIVITIES
After checking your child in on the day of the recital, they'll experience a ton of fun activities backstage! We have activity stations in the conference room as on their path to the big stage. The entire time they'll be supervised by our event team who will work to ensure that dancers are both staying safe and having fun. Some of the stations they'll experience are: Sticker sheets, coloring pages, practicing their bows and much more! We also love parent help backstage!
RECITAL DAY CHECK IN & OUT SAFETY PROTOCOL
When every parent knows what the protocols are, it helps all of our dancers stay safe! With so many little ones under the age of 10, it's a big responsibility to keep track of everyone and ensure everyone is going home with the right party: it's one we take very seriously.
The parent wristband ticket that came with your registration has your last name on it. ONLY the one person wearing this wristband is allowed in the conference room, and is the ONLY person allowed to drop off and pick up your child. If at any point during the show we need you to come to your child, we will call this name out over the microphone in the auditorium and also say where we need you to go (conference room, backstage, etc). As the show ends, please wait in your seats in the theater patiently until ALL of the dancers are safely back in the conference room. This is for the safety of our dancers as they travel back to the conference room for pick up.
After the show, please help us by asking all of your guests to exit through the main doors of the Building.
PLEASE DO NOT HAVE EVERYONE COME INTO THE CONFERENCE ROOM. We will allow the ONE person with WRISTBAND ONLY in to pick up their children. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CONFERENCE ROOM UNLESS YOU HAVE A WRISTBAND. We know it's exciting and everyone wants to see their dancer after the show, but it's important to have other parents and guests wait in the hallway or outside to avoid more chaos than is necessary upon pickup. Please check in with your dancer's chaperone to check them out, do not just remove them. You need to let somebody know you are there, and show your wristband. Following these safety procedures helps everyone stay safe!
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Parents are always welcome to be backstage volunteers! They are an integral part of our show and we love having their warm, caring and responsible personalities to help us out. We will send an email two weeks before the show asking for volunteers. It is important that volunteers know that:
- Once you submit to volunteer, you are responsible for finding a replacement should you no longer be able to participate.
- During your dancer's performance, you will have the option of watching them dance from backstage OR going to sit in the front row, and then return to their class to escort them back to the cafeteria.
- YOU MUST STAY WITH YOUR CHILD'S CLASS FROM WHEN YOU ARRIVE AND THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRETY OF THE SHOW. THERE IS NO OPTION TO SWITCH OUT ANOTHER PARENT OR PERSON FOR YOUR STATION AT ANY POINT DURING THE RECITAL.
